On May 5 and 6, 2025, the third symposium and the General Assembly of the International Academy of Prehistory and Protohistory, were organized in the Gobelins Hall of the Bode Museum in Berlin, at the invitation of our colleague and member Hermann Parzinger, whom we thank warmly as well as his colleagues for the perfect organization of the event.
The many members physically present (see attached photo) from Europe but also from Africa, the Far East and the Caucasus, and our members online, made the event a great success.
The symposium based on the dual theme of «Milestones in Cultural Evolution» and «Challenges for Archaeology in the 21st Century» was rich in more than twenty papers given by our members and by archaeologists specially invited to communicate in the symposium.
The General Assembly was particularly convivial, with all the decisions being voted unanimously. We had the opportunity and the pleasure to vote on the admission of four new members: Lyn Wadley (South-Africa), Hiroyuki Sato (Japan), Xing Gao (China) and Emma Mbua (Kenya).
The next symposium and the 2026 General Assembly will take place in Cairo (Egypt) probably in the 4th quarter at the invitation of Barbara Barich for the Italian Institute and Jacek Kabacinski for the Polish Institute in Cairo.
